Description and Mission

Rainbow House is an emergency shelter for abused and neglected children and children whose families are experiencing crisis. We serve abused and neglected children, as well as families in crises. The Shelter houses children that are in foster care; and assists parents who need placement for their children during a family crisis. At the Child Advocacy Center (CAC), we serve children who have been sexually abused and/or severely physically abused.

Activities:

Students can serve as shelter assistants to the house parents, meal preparers, donations coordinator, and plan and present special activities with the children. When there are no children in the shelter, students will assist with re-stocking and sorting clothing, preparing activities and food stores for incoming children.

Special emphasis and skills:

Child Enrichment Activities, Food Preparation and Serving, Math Proficiency, Reading Proficiency, Community Gardening, Fundraising, Event Planning, Emergency Medical Care
