Description and Mission

The Bluffs facility provides intermediate and skilled nursing care for the elderly in Columbia. The Bluffs provides opportunities for students to interact with the elderly through one on one reading, crafts, and wood projects. Morning and afternoon groups are available and students with special talents are encouraged to participate.

Activities:

Up to 5 students can serve as activity assistants in two hour shifts with the general population of skilled nursing facility residents. Activities include bingo, happy hour, Tuesday beauty shop and Friday afternoon events. Up to 10 students can serve in the memory unit and assist with patient activities.

Special emphasis and skills:

Transportation Assistance, Health Care Administration, Adaptive Art, Patient Assistance, Cultural & Social Assimilation, Life Skills Training, Nutrition
