Education
MU Student Athletes interact with children by reading and discussing books. In this program, the student athlete uses teleconferencing capabilities located in the Verizon Children's Literacy Center to connect with three different elementary classroom at the same time. The classrooms, located throughout the state, also are equipped with teleconferencing equipment. The student athlete reads a story to the students, who are in their school classrooms, and then discusses interesting aspects of the story with them. The children are also given the opportunity to ask the student athlete questions about his or her sport.
Projects consistent with the organization’s mission are available; there are currently no special projects posted.
