Local Government
The Public Works Volunteer Program's purpose is to utilize the unique talents, skills and knowledge of volunteers to extend waste reduction and environmental clean up programs in the City of Columbia and to educate the citizens about waste reduction issues.
Volunteers create environmental presentations; teach recycling games and other activities in the schools, extend and organize additional apartment and dorm recycling participation, edit our newsletter, and provide outreach to local businesses on recycling education. During the spring semester, volunteers can help in planning our earth day participation.
