Description and Mission

Refugee Services contracts with the US Department of State to resettle foreign refugees in the Mid-Missouri area. Services include housing assistance, health, education, job placement, case management, and activities of daily living.

Activities:

Up to 4 students can serve as Spanish language partners; this placement is intended for Advanced Conversation students in Dr. Sandone or Dr. Marcos-Llinas' classes. Up to 2 students can serve in the office and assist persons from other cultures. Students may also be placed at the Adult Learning Center at Douglass High School.

Special emphasis and skills:

ESL Literacy, Financial Planning, Budgeting, Child Enrichment Activities, Customer Service, Fundraising, Marketing, Reading Proficiency, Cultural & Social Assimilation, Life Skills Training, Transitional Housing
