Description and Mission

Cedar Creek Therapeutic Riding Center provides horseback riding therapy to people with disabilities in the mid-Missouri area. Cedar Creek provides equestrian therapy to children and adults with physical, mental and emotional disabilities. We believe that therapeutic riding provides an opportunity for individuals to develop to their fullest potential using the horse as a catalyst for success.

Activities:

Cedar Creek needs 100 volunteers for each term to serve as sidewalkers. Persons with extensive horse experience can serve as handlers. Session Starts: Wednesday Sept. 16; Session Ends: Saturday Nov. 7, 2009. Volunteers serve 2 hours a week the following times: Wednesday from 3 PM -5 PM; Wednesday from 5 PM - 7 PM; Thursday from 2:00 PM - 4:15 PM; Thursday from 4:30 PM - 6:30 PM; Friday from 4:30 PM - 6:30 PM (horse experience needed for this shift); or Saturday from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM. Students with 35 hours may pick one day and come early to help with preparation of horses for classes.
