Description and Mission

The mission of Services for Independent Living is to empower people with disabilities to live as independently as possible, to control their own lives, and to increase opportunities and choices through direct services and community advocacy.

Activities:

Up to 2 students can volunteer this semester with Power Soccer. We meet on Sunday afternoons from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Students are need to assist with the preparation and then facilitation of kids in the kitchen, the parent network, and other youth programming (middle school through college age). If you are to able to continue into June, you would be given preference for this placement. Saturday afternoon availability would be necessary in addition to hours during the week.

Special emphasis and skills:

Social Justice, Adaptive Technology, Child Enrichment Activities, Adaptive Employment, Adaptive Recreation, Cultural & Social Assimilation, Life Skills Training, Food Preparation and Serving, Nutrition
