Description and Mission

Jumpstart on the campus of MU is the local affiliate of a national not-for-profit, whose mission is to engage young people in service to work toward the day when every child in America enters school prepared to succeed. Specifically, Jumpstart tutors work in area preschools with 3-5 year-olds. Go to jstart.org for more information about our national organization.

Activities:

Students attend training as classroom assistants and then are placed in one of 5 not-for-profit early childhood education centers in downtown Columbia.

Special emphasis and skills:

Child Enrichment Activities, Math Proficiency, Reading Proficiency, ESL Literacy, Community Specific Research, Cultural & Social Assimilation, Early Childhood Emphasis
