The Intersection is about * Involving young people who live in at-risk neighborhoods in positive activities in a safe place where they receive caring adult attention. * Developing personal assets such as honesty, restraint, and public service in young people. * Involving youth in a dynamic community where they matter. * Developing social competencies and leadership skills. * Empowering youth to believe in their value as contributors to the larger society. * Helping young people feel optimistic about their future.
Students can serve in one of the following areas: Academic tutoring, Homework help, Remedial Math classes, Writing and Creative Arts classes, multi-media educational projects, Social skills classes, Art, Character education, Recreational activities, Field trips, Financial literacy classes, Leadership training.
Reading Proficiency, Math Proficiency, Citizen Involvement, Community Design, Cultural & Social Assimilation, Cultural Awareness, Life Skills Training, Middle School Emphasis, Volunteer Development
