Education
Fun City, in its 38th year, provides educational and mentoring programs to improve the quality of life for central city children and their families. Through Summer Academy and during the school year through Saturday Academy, we provide a structured setting for math and reading skills enhancement and self esteem building for young people ages 5 to 18 who live within a 2 mile radius of the Blind Boone Center and Douglas High School.
Students will serve at Saturday Academy from 12 to 4. They're required to arrive by 11:45. We provide math and reading enrichment, cooking activities, recreation and Interact Theatre and cultural heritage projects (activities change on 45 minute intervals). Students are required to supervise our youth and interact with them and the group activity with whichever breakout session their youth is attending.
Child Enrichment Activities, Event Planning, Project Management, Office Administration, Food Preparation and Serving, Math Proficiency, Reading Proficiency
Projects consistent with the organization’s mission are available; there are currently no special projects posted.
