Alternative Community Training provides support to individuals with disabilities as they become full and valued members of five areas of service: Supported Employment, ACT Works, Community Integration, and Community Living and In-Home Services. We assist with daily activities, community integration, employment and independent living skills with the goal of helping individuals live as independently as possible.
Service-learning students can serve in either the Day Program, Behavior Development Service, or In-Home Services. ACT has the following volunteer opportunities this semester: Behavior Development Services: Visual Support Assistant- Looking for one student to assist the Behavior Development Program in making visual supports (posters, visual schedules and social stories) for individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities. Volunteer will also work closely with our In-Home Services Program to assist Program Manager in developing new systems for monthly service documentation and development of program goals for individuals with developmental disabilities. Day Services: Looking for 2-3 energetic and enthusiastic people to assist in developing activities. Volunteers would work directly with Day Services Activities Coordinator developing and preparing art/craft activities.
