Description and Mission

Children's Grove is a citizen initiative of hope and support for the cause of better mental health for children. The organization is working to become a 501 3C entity. The group began as an initiative to build a symbol of Columbia's support for the care-taking of our youth and as a supportive gesture in response to the Sandy Hook tragedy. $20,000 was raised very quickly from other interested Columbians to dedicate a grove of butterfly magnolias within Stephens Lake Park as a playful arbor culture where individuals can reflect or play or imagine. This year a hand crafted iron butterfly bench will be added to the park, but beyond that the group has branched out into mental health first aid education, kindness education, the 2nd year of an art contest, Facebook, a website and much more. Because it is a group with robust energy for an important cause, social media is imperative.
