Description and Mission

Rain is the region's leading STD prevention resource focused on education, early detection and compassionate care facilitation. In addition to high quality education and prevention services, Rain offers compassionate case management to persons with HIV/STD and HCV in the form of counseling, physician referrals, housing, social services, nutritional planning, risk reduction counseling, and treatment adherence counseling. Medical professionals including primary care physicians rely on Rain to advise their patients and direct them to the best resources. Community leaders and influencers such as counselors, clergy and teachers count on Rain to equip them with information that can stop the spread of STDs and save lives.

Activities:

RAIN provides non-medical compassionate care to those infected, or affected, by HIV while providing up-to-date prevention education in the community. We are currently seeking volunteers and students to work in the Education Department, although more opportunities for working directly with HIV+ individuals may develop. Students can assist the Education Coordinator with outreach activities including the distribution of instructional materials, condoms and information about HIV testing.

Special emphasis and skills:

Public Relations/Promotion, Public Speaking, Client Counseling
