Description and Mission

The Gentry Middle School special education team provides inclusive opportunities for special education and general education students. These opportunities include: The Gentry Kindness Club (extracurricular club), the Lunch Bunch (Make A Friend/Be A Friend Station), Reverse Mainstreaming (regular education students push-into a specialized classroom for an activity and/or lesson, and more.


Kindness club includes inclusion activities designed to promote kindness among members and throughout the school. Past activities have included: students interviewing and highlighting 'behind the scenes heroes' (gentry employees who are rarely recognized), posters promoting awareness & improving school culture, recognition of kind acts throughout the school, and more. The Lunch Bunch is a lunch group where students have the opportunity to interact with students outside their friend group. The reverse mainstreaming project pairs gen ed peer mentors with special education students for lessons (science project, cooking project, etc) and/or activities in a specialized classroom.
