Description and Mission

The Solid Waste Division has many recycling programs including the Apartment Recycling Program, Blue Bag (Residential) Recycling, Convenience Store (used beverage containers) Recycling, Commercial Recycling, Compost Facility, Drop-off Sites, Electronic Waste Collection, Food Waste Composting, Household Hazardous Waste Collection, Material Recovery Facility, and the Mulch Sites.

Activities:

There is little staffing to educate our citizens about these programs. The city uses volunteers to to educate the citizens about waste reduction issues. Volunteers support the activities of the Waste Minimization Supervisor. Volunteers organize additional apartment and dorm recycling participation, edit our newsletter, and create marketing materials and perform outreach to local businesses on recycling education.
