Description and Mission

In a cooperative effort with parents and the community, Grant School seeks to help all children reach their academic, intellectual, social, and creative potential within a safe and nurturing environment. The mentoring program seeks to enhance this growth by partnering students with caring community members who support them in weekly enrichment activities and experiences.

Activities:

Service-learning students can assist with the Mentoring Club on Thursday afternoons from 3 to 4:45 Time will be spent reading with a child, having a snack and supporting the student in a teacher lead activity. This program will involve a one to one match between a college student and a kindergarten or first grade Grant student.

Special emphasis and skills:

Reading Proficiency, Child Enrichment Activities, Cultural & Social Assimilation, Life Skills Training, Youth Emphasis
