Description and Mission

Central Missouri Community Action is a local, non-profit organization serving eight counties in Central Missouri. CMCA’s mission is to empower individuals and families to achieve self-reliance, and we envision a community in which economic insecurity is eliminated. We engage communities to develop resources that prevent poverty, and we offer an array of programs designed to work with individuals to move towards self-sufficiency.


Students can volunteer with any of many different programs and projects including Head Start, Fundraising & Development, teaching/tutoring, Columbia Career Center Assistance, Event Planning and Management, Tax Assistance, general office assistance, energy assistance crisis counselors, and various other programmatic work. We always welcome any volunteers who are interested in serving and are happy to find a position that is the right fit for you or your group.
