Description and Mission

Jumpstart provides language, literacy, and social-emotional programming for preschool children from under-resourced communities and promotes quality early learning for all to ensure every child in America enters kindergarten prepared to succeed. Specifically, our Jumpstart tutors educate 3-5 year-olds in local preschools. Go to jstart.org for more information about our national organization.

Activities:

Students attend training as classroom assistants and then are placed in early childhood education centers in Columbia. Opportunities to serve in low-income community preschools, as well as Columbia Public School Title I preschools are available.

Special emphasis and skills:

Child Enrichment Activities, Math Proficiency, Reading Proficiency, ESL Literacy, Cultural & Social Assimilation, Early Childhood Emphasis
