Dates and Times

The Adult Learning Center is open between 8:30 AM and 8:00 PM on Monday through Thursday. Students can serve between 2 and 3 hours a week after assignment by the coordinator.

Service Activities

Volunteers serve in classrooms as tutors for adult learners in GED tutoring, and ESL programs.

Special Criteria

Complete the Columbia Public School background check form as required. This service requires that you enjoy reading and writing, are comfortable with math, and can demonstrate patience and sensitivity to adult learners as opposed to child learners. Special needs class placement is available.

Training

To tutor at the Adult Learning Center a 1 hour training is required. Training is offered before placing volunteers into the classrooms.
